Boeing’s stock declines on delays of 787 deliveries (NYSE:BA)
Boeing’s (NYSE:BA) stock fell on Tuesday after the aircraft maker said it’s delaying deliveries of the 787 Dreamliner jetliner after finding flawed parts during production. The shares were down 2.1% to $204.37 in regular trading by 2:12 p.m. ET.
The flaw possibly affects about 90 of the planes that haven’t been delivered yet, Boeing announced Tuesday. Boeing (BA) will examine each jetliner for improperly sized gap-fillers inside the horizontal stabilizer on the tail fin.
Several 787s on the final assembly line at Boeing’s (BA) factory in North Charleston, South Carolina, also will require inspection for the flawed gap fillers.
The latest manufacturing setback comes as Boeing (BA) and European rival Airbus (OTCPK:EADSY) (OTCPK:EADSF) work to keep up with surging demand for new planes as airlines see growing passenger volumes after the end of pandemic restrictions.
